Why are some substances are biodegradable and some are non biogradable?

Explanation:

Only those substances made out of organic is biodegradable. That means they can decompose. Non biodegradable substances are usually not organic. Therefore some are biodegradable and others are non biodegradable.

Substances which can be acted upon by microorganism (decomposer) are called biodegradable. For example- vegetable wastes, paper, cotton etc. On the other hand, materials which are not acted upon by decomposers are called non-biodegradable. For example- plastic, glass, polyethene etc.
