The substances which can be broken down into simpler substances by the action of bacteria is biodegradable .
For example - rotten vegetables , animal faeces etc.
While the substances which can not be broken down into simpler substances by the action of bacteria are non biodegradable substances.
For example - polythene
Thus some substances are biodegradable and some non biodegradable

Hope it helps

♤ Substances which are organic are biodegradable.Exmaple :- Agricultural waste

♤ Substances which are inorganic are non bio degradable. Example :- Polythene bags

♤ Decomposers can utilise organic substances as their food while other substances cannot be utilised by Decomposers as food .

♤ Due to this reasons some substances are biodegradable while other are non bio degradable.
