Why are specimens kept in low temperature water bath?

Explanation:

this is done to reduce temperature of the substance and not to burn it off completely .the specimen is just heated when water steams out and hits the China dish so to avoid the combustion of matter and spoil it specimen is kept in low temp with a water bath
