Have you lived in Chennai? You can't beat that for 24x365 heat & humidity. I lived there for close to seven years, and almost all my outdoor sports stopped. But then, those who are used to it, carry on merrily.
All coastal cities, around the world, have high humidity. Being a bit away from the sea, Calcutta gets less of the cooling breeze than those right on the water. Bombay too has very high humidity, and in Oct-Nov, when the breeze stops, it can be very uncomfortable for those not used to it.
