Why are stomata mostly present on lower surface of leaves?

Upper layer of leaf is made up of epidermis means it has a layer of cuticle.cuticle resists dessecation,infectionn and evaporation so it will not allow the leaf to transpirate.If plant will not transpirate conduction of water will not occur.as a result,plant may die so stomata is present on lower surface of leaves
