sugar particles are solid and do not take the shape of a container but since the particles are of very small size which makes them difficult to distinguish from one another if consider in a large number, so as a whole they take the form/shape of a container.

Sugar is a crystalline solids which has a finely regular shape and equal pattern of arrangement of molecules and it is found in the form of smaller particles and not as solid rock. It is filled in container in an uncountable, huge amount and thus, it fills the container equally and takes its shape, while other solids have an irregular structure which does not fill the container equally and so, does not takes the shape of container.
