Sulfonamides must not be used in case of presence of pus because pus contains large amounts of para-amino-benzoic acid (PABA) which antagonize the action of sulfonamides. Clinical uses: Sulfonamides used to treat acute urinary tract infection, respiratory tract infection wound infection, coccidiosis and foot rot.
