Why are swimming tubes and life jackets filled with air used by people who cannot swim ?

hloo dear....

It is because the air is lighter than the water and thus it would float on water .. It would save a person wearing it from drowning

When an object is immersed in water , it experiences two forces :
---> weight in downwards direction.
----> Up Thrust or force of buoyancy in upward direction.

According to principle of flotation, An object floats in liquid, if weight of the object is equal to weight of the liquid displaced by it.

So, here already person in swimming pool has some weight, in order to make the person float, life jackets are worn .

So life jacket just try to displace more water due to which the upward buoyant forces increases .so that the persons head floats above the water.
