Taller buildings are in greater danger because lightning always strikes the thing which is tallest in the area and has the capacity to enable earthing. Taller buildings are more closer to the clouds. The buildings have metallic poles and structures which provide a low resistance path for the electric discharge.

Answer:Because long buildings are nearer to the sky.
One more reason is that the sky (during thunderstorms) are negatively charged and the buildings are positively charged. So the building attracts the lightening.
