Why are teeth not counted as bones?

Periosteum contains osteoblasts, or cells that can manufacture new bonegrowth and repair. Tooth enamel, unfortunately, doesn't have the same regenerative powers. Unlike bones,teeth cannot heal themselves or grow back together if they are broken
