Test tubes are made up of very thin glass for the following reasons -

• If we make test tubes with thick glass then the total weight of the taste you will increase which is not suitable for holding with test tube holders for a very long time.

• The thick layer of glass will decrease the inner hollow volume of the test tube which is not preferable for retaining a greater amount of chemical in the test tube.

• The thick layer glass will resist the heat in more amount which will increase the time of heating of the substances inside the test tube.
