why are the areas under and around equator so hot.

Explanation:

Our earth is tilted on its axis which makes the equatorial region bulged and more closer towards the sun. So here the sun is overhead and its rays enter the atmosphere directly at a higher angle, unlikely the polar regions where the sun rays are slightly slanted.

NOTE:- the amount of rays are equal at both poles and equator. Still the equatorial regions are hot because here the sun is overhead which increases the intensity of the rays but at poles the sun rays get slightly slanted (because the earth is tilted) so here the intensity of the sun rays is lesser.

I hope this helps you!!!
