Why are the charges residing on the surfacein a charged conductingsphere?

A charge will always reside on the surface as that's only place left.Because if charge resides inside then by gauss law, field inside theconductor will not be zero. ... Electric field Eo produces induced charges on the conductor's surface so as to cancel the net electric field inside theconductor.
