The children are weeping in the poem as they were touched by the miseries and sorrows of Sita in the poem and they cried.
- In this poem by Toru Dutt, wherein a mother is narrating a story to her three children. These children opened their doors of imagination and mind and could picture and feel everything that their mother narrated to them in their tender minds.
- They imagined Rishi Valmiki's ashram wherein Sita was in exile. They could imagine flowers blooming, creepers glowing, a silent lake wherein swans were there, peacocks were there as well and then comes Sita crying as if she was in exile.
- This hurt the children and even they teared up and they could sympathise with her.
- They felt sorry about her situation and were deeply touched and emotional about her sorrows in exile. It affected them so much that for the whole night of that particular day, they kept dreaming of Sita being in exile and how her situation would have been even after their mother narrated the story and finished telling them but their imagination knew no bounds and kept dreaming.
