Why are the conductors of electric heating devices, such as bread toasters and electric irons, made up of alloys rather than a pure metal?

There are lots of heating devices i.e. electric heater, electric blower, toaster, immersible rod. Alloy is used in all of them. It has been found that alloys have higher melting point due to high resistance. Hence alloy is used in heating devices.
