All elements in this world want stability.
cr-1s2,2s2,2p6,3s2,3p6,4s1,3d5
in this case d orbital acquire 5 electron because half filled orbital are more stable than other one,if it give 3d electron to 4s orbital then it would not be stable as compare to previous one.
Cu-1s2,2s2,2p6,3s2,3p6,4s1,3d10
same reason as above mentioned here d orbital is fully filled if it was not then it would be not so much stable as in case of fully filled d orbital.
