Why are the elements of groups IA and zero are called reactive elements and inert elements respectively?

The elements of group 1A have 1 valence electron in their last shell and hence can lose an electron easily during compound formation, making them very reactive.

The elements of zero group have a stable electronic configuration with their last shell complete and hence do not react easily with other elements to attain stable electronic configuration. Therefore, they are inert.
