As some writers have said, the sea levels are not equal. Configuration of continents, currents, prevailing winds and lunar tides all conspire to shift water around unequally.

That is one reason all this scientific earth warming babble about sea level rising is nonsense. At the small levels it rises due to melting ice those millimeters get lost in the normal variability due to all the effects I have just mentioned. Coastal erosion is also variable, increasing due to storms, tides, sediment starvation(sinking land) and currents and not just due to rising sea level.

Those who bring rising sea level up and do not discuss all the myriad of variables prove their ignorance. They are too eager trying to prove a point than to discuss processes in a rational manner.

Man’s dicking around with beach processes causing erosion makes it appear that sea level is rising and global warming is the culprit. In the Gulf of Mexico coastal erosion along the Louisiana coast is used as an example of submerging coastlines but everyone knows it is because the flooding that used to replenish the sediment in the Atchafalaya basin, has been cut off by engineering projects on the Mississippi River, so no sediment means more erosion and disappearing coastline. Instead all the sediment goes out the end of the Mississippi delta, that would have ceased to be the outlet for the Mississippi decades ago if not for the efforts of the Corp of Engineers who prevented the river from rerouting itself through the Atchafalaya basin.
