They are unreliable as the thought process of common man is not described.

  • The extensive documents tells what authorities believed and were interested in, and what they intended to preserve for posterity, thereby making most of them as unreliable.
  • Official records omitted information on ordinary people, making them untrustworthy. These documents do not reveal how other citizens of the country felt or what motivated their conduct.
  • The act of writing was considered significant by the British. Thus, they had every order, policy decision, agreement, inquiry, and so on written down.
  • They reasoned that on accomplishment, things will be thoroughly examined and argued. This conviction resulted in a culture of notations, and  administration reports, ignoring common people's thoughts.
