why are the offspring of sexual reproduction is non identical. how they help in Survival?

they are not identical bcz sexual reproduction involves fusion of 2 gametes and these gametes carry different genetic information and this results in non identical progeny ....it help in survival if the variation produced make it resistant to some situations while their parents having old genetic information do not survive as such. ..
