hello my friend !!

this seems a very interesting question

look my friend there are over millions of compound that can be formed with the help of currently 118 elements most of those elements
can perform reactions but some of them like noble gases which are 7 and very heavier artificial elements don't even react but even at this we have very vast properties and varieties of compound .

this happens due to different elementary properties every element exhibits different no. of electrons and difference in shells and valence electrons and hence different elements combine differently with any other particular element.

take an example let's take 2 elements

let one side be sodium,nitrogen

and on other oxygen

when sodium reacts with oxygen it forms basic oxide because it gives electrons to oxygen

while nitrogen form neutral and acidic oxides because it gains the electrons

now it's only for ionic bonds

compounds are also covalent consist of hydrocarbon or silene

which form various bonds which causes difference of compounds in solubility melting point and boiling point ....

difference in functional groups and many many other causes are also responsible of it

now it was only about chemical properties

let's take now physical properties

we have difference in physical properties mainly between metals and non metals

these metal and non metal are different in characters because of again electron in there valence shell elements which are able to donate electrons and hence have 1 to 3 electrons in there last shell have metallic characters

and in other case you know pretty well what I am talking about is non metals

and then we have metaloids which are the intermediate between metal and non metals and have certain properties

now we will also talk about some optics and optical nature of elements

you know that element and compounds formed by them have only certain colors these color come because different elements absorb different colors of spectrum

and it can be understood by the phenomenon of electromagnetic spectrum

when we get light reflected from certain element and form a spectrum with it we will get some of the colors missing and absorbed by the elements which forms the absorption lines on the spectrum

and defines the color of the compound

then we have not only sub atomic particles like proton and neutron

but sub protonic and sub neuronic particals inside them which also define there properties

also particles like higgs bosons and neutrino
which also say something about an element and compound

my friend all these and many other particles , phenomenon and principles lead to the vast difference between compounds

Answer:

  • This occurs as a result of various elementary features.
  • Every element has a unique number of electrons, distinct shells, and valence electrons, which causes every element to mix with every other element differently.
  • The same elements are always present in the same proportions in a compound.

Explanation:

  • Various compounds are created when the same components mix in different ratios.
  • Compounds can be covalent or ionic in nature. Their atoms are held together by different types of bonds.
  • Chemical substances have no electric charges. A metal reacting with a nonmetal produces ionic compounds.
  • The reaction between two nonmetals produces covalent compounds.
