answer

Railway tracks are laid on large sized wooden sleepers so that the thrust due to the weight of train is spread over large area . This reduces the pressure on the ground which would prevent the yielding of the ground.

Answer:

Stability.

Explanation:

The railway lines are laid on wooden or concrete blocks to hold them tightly. The concrete blocks have metal holders which hold the track at a specific  distance which is equal to the distance between the wheels of the train's engine and coaches. These concrete blocks are on sharp stones which avoids the slipping of these blocks and damaging the track. In this way the whole track is keeping itself safe from damage.
