This bending of rivers due to deposition of silt and sediments is called meandering. ... Ganga originates in the Himalayas where there is high gradient and acts as a source huge source of sediments. Moreover, Ganga being a pretty long river makes meandering possible in its middle and lower reaches.

In the lower coast, the river Ganga develops large meanders because the stage of the river is matured.

Explanation:

  • The flow of the river Ganga in lower cost erodes alongside from left side to right side forming a larger bends.
  • The combination of sediments and erosion are deposited in the river bank forming large meanders.
  • Meander is a sinuous bends, curves, loops or windings in the river channel or stream.
