Why are the roots of the some plants are swollen while those of others are not?

swollen roots are the forms which get modified due to storage of food, perenation for survival in adverse conditions...

  • they include the forms such as modified tap roots..as ,fusiform(radish),tuberous(beta vulgaris,conical(carrot) ,napiform(crocus)
  • also modified adventitous roots such as fasciculated (dahlia,asparagus),nodulated(turmeric),tuberous(mirabilis)

so those plants have swollen roots...which are generally live in extreme conditions and adaptations as swoolen roots for storage..

the roots of some also gat swollen dut to nodule formation associated with rhizobium in legumes plants...
