Why are the Shivalik ranges prone to landslides

Shivalik range is made up of unconsolidated sediments, which are not compact and consolidated. These sendiments, are more susceptible for downslope movement under the force of gravity in rainy season.

The shivalik ranges are prone to land slides.This is due to the slight tilt towards south which is connected with the mountains between southern Himalayas (shivalik) and lesser Himalayas such as duns and greater Himalayas (Himadri) the glaciers melt and leads to falling of Stone's and rocks towards south due to gravity
