The sound waves produced due to earthquake are audible to bats and dogs, but we are not able to hear them because -

• The hearing capability of the human ears lies between the sound range of 20Hz to 20KHz.

Any kind of sound wave which is greater or lesser than the above mentioned sound range is not audible by the human ears.

• Similarly, the sound waves which are produced by the earthquake has a frequency of 0.01 Hz to 10 Hz which is extremely low than the audible sound range of the human ears.

That's why we cannot hear the sound produced by the the earthquakes.

• But,the hearing capabilities of the bat and dog are extremely high than the human capabilities. Their audible sound range is much wider than us.

And, that's why they are able to hear the low frequency sound waves of the earthquakes.
