North indian rivers are also called himalayan rives.
Himalayan Rivers are not suitable for the production of hydel power though their sources are in the Himalaya. But the South Indian Rivers are suitable for the production of hydel power as they are swift flowing along rugged terrain.

South Indian rivers flow though a smooth surface and the flow of water is also uniform which is important for hydroelectric power to generate electricity therefore south Indian rivers are preferred over north Indian rivers
