The growth of vegetation depends upon the amount sunlight and rainfall received. The southern slopes of theHimalayas receive more rain due to the south west monsoon winds which travel west along the southernslops. ... So the southern slopes arecovered with thick vegetation as compared to the Northern slopes.

Hope this helps u.
