The use of coal and petroleum should be restricted because, burning of coal and petroleum produces carbon dioxide and when sufficient oxygen is not present then it produces carbon monoxide, which is harmful for health. And as carbon dioxide is a green- house gas so, if the concentration of carbon dioxide increases then the temperature of the earth also increases, which is responsible for global warming. So, the glaciers are melting and as a result the sea level is also increasing.
