Viruses are regarded as a borderline between living and non living beings as when they are floating in the air or on any non-living thing they show the characteristic of a non living organism and when they come in contact with suitable living organism they behave like living and multiply inside it. That's why viruses are also called unique.

when they are outside the host body, they are non living. When they are inside a living body, they behave like living body.
