more than half of the planet is covered with oceans. they are spread all over the earth. some of the oceanic areas are dry and receive less rainfall. due to dry winds, more water is evaporated, but it doesn't get replenished via rains.
thus when water goes in atmosphere, it leaves salt behind. as a result, salinity of water increases ans water becomes denser.
anytime fresh water enters the oceans, it lowers the salt levels. evaporation removes it more in arid places, but there is less amount of rain to make up for water loss and therefore some places in oceans have more salinity than other places.

The salinity of water is caused due to natural phenomenon inside the sea or pollution released into water . Before there was no salt water but now we are having because of two reasons which I described
