Why are tourism studies called multi disciplinary?

The name of the discipline (or disciplines) which deals with the new challenge is of secondary importance (though it is also significant). The theory of the multi-disciplinary character of tourism studies, i.e. acknowledging those academic disciplines which have created tourism studies, is not a new notion.
