Why are traffic jam more common in city?

bcz India is one of the largest population country and cities people often to office and they use vehicle for moving to nearby.

Traffic jam is one of major issue in cities because of increasing population and people not supposed to be complete without a car .. I mean one car is enough for the whole family but instead of one every member of family demands for their own and the results we can see on the road !! That's something people think they looked very cool and having egoistic attitude towards their own vehicle we need to understand the pollution level increased by us/ our vehicles and we can share our vehicles with other ones .... Sorry if I expand it unnecessarily and u don't want but great question anyway u asked  :)
