During strong or severe wind storms, full tree canopies can act as a sail in the wind. When wind speeds are excessive, storms can cause entire trees to uproot. This is more likely to occur when soils are wet and the tree's roots are unable to securely anchor themselves in the soil.

HEY MATE HERE IS THE ANSWER.

If somebody jumps at you from behind with great push you would be thrown forward to a great distance , in the same way speed of the storm pushes the aerial portion of the tree towards its direction with such a great force that it gets uprooted.

HOPE IT HELPS.
