Answer:

A single muscle can only pull, it cannot push. Thus, muscles work in pairs to move a bone. When one muscle contracts, it pulls the movable bone. When another muscle of the pair pulls, it brings the bone back to its original position.

we need two muscles to bring out the movement of hinge joint.

Explanation:

  • A muscle can only pull it cannot push thus two muscle are required to work together to move a bone.
  • Hinge joint function by allowing flexion and extension in one plane with small degrees of motion in other plane.
  • When one muscle contracts the bone is pulled when another muscle of the pair pulls it brings the bone in its original position.
