Why are variations observed in sexual reproduction?

It leads to interchange of genetic information between two gametes which is passed to the progeny and develops variation. Offsprings produced as a result of sexual reproduction are genetically different from the parents due to the process of meiosis, during which crossing over takes place which creates recombination
