Veins having diameter greater than 2 mm are provided with valves that allow blood flow towards the heart and to prevent the back flow in opposite direction. And a point to be noted, veins with valves are only present in the lower regions of the body especially in the abdomen and hind limbs. In the upper region above the heart, there is no valve.
