why are violinists hated????

Answer:
It still gives me “the shivers" when I think of it.
When I was seven, my parents signed me up for violin lessons at school. I played for four years reaching grade 5, not too bad.
When I was eleven, I went to “big school". Because I was now a “big boy” and the viola was a larger instrument, they signed me up for the viola instead.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrggggghhhhhhh!
It is to the orchestra, what Malcolm Young was to AC/DC. There in the background, solid, but playing all the boring notes!
The violins were Angus. Fingers furiously running up and down the neck like a small child on Sunny Delight!
There was I… plod….plod….plod….plod.
To add to the misery, the day of our first recital, I had my TB jab. My left arm felt like it was made of lead. It was all I could do not to stand up and vomit into the bell of the tuba behind me!
I stuck at it for six months and jacked it in.
There is nothing wrong per se with the instrument. It's just that it is soooooo very dull.
