VIROIDS:

  • Viroids are the infections organisms that are associated with the infection of both plants and animals.
  • Viroids are genetic material mainly DNA or RNA without any protein coat. This infectious genetic material when enters into the plant bodies gets incorporated into the plant's genetic material and reproduces as the plant cell undergoes DNA replication.
  • This leads to the formation of that gene too, which in turn produces newer infectious materials, as well as proteins that are causing the infection. Viroids affected diseases of plants are potato spindle tuber disease etc.
