Viruses are not considered living because they do not fit the definition of LIVING THINGS. They lack many properties that scientists associate with the LIVING. For example, they cannot reproduce without the aid of host cell. Without cells. viruses cannot multiply. Therefore, they are considered as non-living.

Answer : Viruses are not made out of cells, they can't keep themselves in a stable state, they don't grow, and they can't make their own energy. Even though they definitely replicate and adapt to their environment, viruses are more like androids than real living organisms.
