Why are viruses considered as a connecting link between living and nonliving

viruses are considers connecting link as they behaves like any non living thing in normal environment but as soon as it gets a host cell it uses the Host's protoplasm to replicate hence it has both the characteristics of living and non living so called as connecting link between non living and living

viruses considered as being borderline between living and nonliving thing because virus act as living only in living organism body but when it comes in the contact with nonliving thing then it behaves like nonliving.
