Why are viruses considered as being at the "borderline" between living and non living things?

Explanation: They are made up of protein coat . And has DNA or RNA .

It's protein coat is made up of capsomere. All viruses are parasitic because because they can only reproduce by infecting and taking over living cells . The virus DNA or RNA takes  over the protein synthesising machinery of host celll which then helps to make new virus particles.
