why are viruses considered as being at the borderline between living and nonliving things​

This is so because viruses are active when they are inside the body of other organisms and they remain inactive just like dead if they will be outside of any other organism's body.

It is because when they are outside of a living body then they react as a non living organisms but when they are inside the human body then they react as a living organism.
