as this is the border line between living and nonliving because when it is outside the living organism's body like floating in the environment it acts as a non living beings but when it interred into any living organism that acts like a living organism and because its types of diseases by using mechanism of other cells

virus have no body structure outside the host cell ( same as that of non living)

But after entering into the host they form proper organisation and can multiply ( which is a function of living cell )

Thus they are considered to be at border of living and non living
