Heya friend,

The viruses are not active outside the host body as they do not show any molecular movement when outside a body. So, there is also a controversy about it being alive or not.

manavjaison: its proteins and copy its genome
AlexThundrous: Whats genome
manavjaison: set of genmes
manavjaison: *genes
manavjaison: or genetic material
AlexThundrous: Oh yah thanks very much
manavjaison: can you mark my answer brainliest plz?
AlexThundrous: yah sure

Here is the answer to your question......

Viruses are non-cellular structures. They are not truly living as they do not have cell structure(lack cytoplasm).
Outside any living cell they are inert crystalline structure.
When they enter host cell they get the medium for their internal processes and hence function as a cell.

Hope it helps......

AlexThundrous: And what are those internal processes
manavjaison: like respiration
