Usually viruses do not meet any criteria of a living organism.
Virus does not possess cell membrane.
It cannot feed.
It cannot reproduce until it enters a living cell.
It cannot move or response to any stimulus.
It cannot grow or develop independently.
Thus according to scientists (specially virologists) virus is not a living thing
