Why are volatile liquids such as alcohol and spirit stored in tightly closed bottles ?

Volatile liquids are those which evaporate easily when kept in air. So, when these liquids are exposed to air they will disappear within some seconds or minutes. In order to save them for their use, they are kept in tightly closed bottles.
