We are able to see different objects due to the reflection from the irregular surface of the object, when enters in our eye through the pupil and passes through the eye lens and forms an inverted image in the retina and from the retina through the optic nerve it goes to brain then we are able to identify what is the object.

Hope this helps you...:)
