why are we able to see the tap water in the glass even though it is colourless

we are able to see the water in the glass although it is not having any colour because it holds the colour of any other object below it

my answer is that it gets contrasted with the background colour ans so its appearance is visible to us clearly..

if the background is white colour like water then u will not see clearly the falling of water ..but movement is visible slightly
