We are able to sip hot tea or milk faster from a saucer rather than a cup because of evaporation and evaporation causes cooling . So if the surface area is more rate of evaporation is faster and so is the cooling rate .

Hope it helps you

the rate of evaporation increases with an increase of surface area in the case of saucer as compared to the cup. so we are able to sip hot tea or milk faster from a saucer rather than a cup .
